      The adsorption properties of salicylhydroxamic acid(SHA) on rutile were taken as the object of this study. Thermodynamic and kinetic characteristics during adsorption process were studied in detail by varying the pH value,reagent concentration and adsorption time. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption of SHA onto rutile accord well with pseudo-second order kinetic equation. The mineral activity sites diffusion in the mineral surface film was identified as the rate-limited step during the adsorption process. The results of adsorption thermodynamics indicated that Langmuir monolayer adsorption model could explain the adsorption process well in which the ΔGθ increased with the increase of temperature but decrease with the reagent concentration. The mean adsorption energy research demonstrated that the adsorption mode at low temperature appears to be a ion-exchange type while at a higher temperature it seems to be a chemical reaction type.
