Abstract:
In this paper, in order to understand the recovery and reuse of iron in nickel slag, the melting characteristics and viscosity of CaO-SiO2-FeO-MgO nickel slag system were calculated theoretically by FactSage thermodynamic software. The results show that: the liquidus temperature of the slag system decreases first and then increases when the ratio of CaO/SiO2 increases in the range of 0.1~1.2, and reaches the lowest value at 0.6; as the content of MgO increases in the range of 7~17 wt%, the liquidus temperature increases gradually; the viscosity of the slag system decreases first and then increases with the increase of CaO/SiO2 ratio in the range of 1300℃~1380℃, while decreases in the range of 1380℃~1500℃; similarly, the viscosity of the slag system decreases first and then increases with the increase of MgO content in the range of 1360℃~1500℃, while decreases in the range of 1500℃~1560℃. The experimental results show that the change of melting temperature of nickel slag is consistent well with the calculated results, which indicates that the FactSage thermodynamics software is guiding significance in calculating the melting characteristics and viscosity of nickel slag system.
